And why not! Aamina Sheikh is talented, brilliant and more
so one of the most applauded actress, model, producer as well as director of
today’s time. Aamina Sheikh is considered one of the leading figures among the
top Pakistani models. Born on 29th of
August in city of New York ,
she is daughter of Ahmad Sheikh, who is a pharmacist by profession.
Leading actress Aamina Sheikh started her primary education
in Karachi and she also spent her childhood in Karachi . Later on she
continued her higher studies in famous school
of Riyadh named American International
School
Aamina Sheikh did her O-levels and A-levels from St. Joseph ’s Convent school
followed by her bachelor’s in film/video
production. The next milestone in her life was in 2005 when she got married to
one of the good and talented actor in the industry, Mohib Mirza.
Aamina sheikh started her career from Manhattan-based
multi-media company, named Curious Pictures. She worked there as an assistant.
After working sometime as an assistant, Aamina Sheikh returned to Pakistan in 2003 and the first TV channel
venture was joining Geo television network and from there she commenced her career
in Pakistan .
The first show Aamina Sheikh bagged was a children talk show
named “Bachey mann k sachay”. Aamina Sheikh produced and directed this children
talk show. After this talk show she continued struggle and started focusing on
her goals.
In 2007, Aamina Sheikh appeared as an actress for Pakistani
television and from this point her acceptance as an accomplished performer got
recognized. The first telefilm she opted for was, “Gurmuch Singh Ki Waseeyat”.
Telefilm was directed and produced by Sharjil Baloch and Khalid Ahmad and was
shown on Geo network. The project was based on a novel of Saadat Hussain Manto.
Her first show and telefilm was very much appreciated by all
the viewers and critics all over Pakistan . Storyline of telefilm was
very strong and attractive and complemented by
the stunning acting of Aamina Sheikh – winning accolades from viewers
and catching the attention of drama addicts. This was the first huge
achievement of Aamina Sheikh which motivated her and she planned to do more.
After doing a talk show and a telefilm in 2007, Aamina
Sheikh did a sequence of telefilms in 2008 which are Aasmaan chu lay, Baarish
main deewar and Pachees qadam pe maut. In all of these telefilms Aamina Sheikh
was outstanding.
In telefilm “Aasmaan Chu Lay” Aamina Sheikh played a very
tough and challenging role. She was portrayed as a sole earner of a family who
drives an auto rickshaw on the hustled streets of Karachi city. She really got entrenched in
the role and what followed was loads of appreciation resulting in more
roles,the major one being the serial
“Wilco”. This drama project the joint
venture of ISPR and 7th Sky entertainment. Aamina Sheikh played the role of
typical woman of Thar Desert .
Some of the other telefilms she did were Waapsi, Bibi jee,
Aik Jese Khawab, Yeh Bakra Nahin Chalay Ga, Mere Mian Bolay Maen and Bhag Amna
Bhag among several others. In all of her projects Aamina applied her talents
wholeheartedly and apparent was the excellence in all her roles.
Modeling career of Aamina Sheikh started in 2008 and she
made her first modeling debut by walking on the ramp for very famous designer
Rehana Saigol. She did very well as a model and
other famous designers,reached out to her for being a part of their
brands.
Aamina Sheikh then worked with Maria B, Deepak Perwani, Nomi
Ansari, Amir Adnan, Niche lifestyle , Khaadi, The Men’s store, Teejays, Hang
Ten, Maheen Khan, Chinyere, Crossroads and Limited Edition. After doing
appreciable work with all these brands and designers she was right on top of
the list of Pakistan Fashion Models.
Aamina Sheikh did a complete photo shoot with Atif Aslam for
one of the best brand Niche Lifestyle in 2009. In the same year she got
selected for Lux Style Awards and got the award for “Best Emerging Talent”. In
2010 she got two awards namely “Best model- Female” in Lux Style Awards and
“Face of the year award” from Sunday Daily Times. In 2011 she was awarded as
“Best actor female (satellite)” in Lux Style Awards.
In 2010 Aamina Sheikh started working for commercial
Pakistani dramas. She did her first drama named “Ishq Gumshuda” a drama by
Haissam Hussain; and second drama “Daam” a drama by Mehreen Jabbar.
Other drama projects that she worked on include Main Abdul
Qadir Hoon, Maat, Umme-Kalsoom, Uraan, Hum Tum, Kuch Kami Si Hai, Mera Saaein,
Mera Saaein 2, Mora Piya, Ek Hateeli Pe Heena Ek Hateeli Pe Lahoo, Mera Naam
Hai Mohabbat, Qisson Ki chaadar, Boltay Afsanay, Haal-e-Dil, Tere Liye,
Saleena, Dil-e-Nadaan, Agar Tum Na Hotay and many more.
Aamina Sheikh recently did modeling for big name Maria B.
Her future plans include partnership with singer Zeb & Haniya for a
Pakistani brand “Always”. She will act as a feminine hygiene figure for the new
launch of company “Always Karo Yaqeen” platform.
